I approach art making in a painterly expressive manner, following the ideas of Abstract Expression and Minimalism attempting to capture and simplify emotions that swing on the pendulum between peaceful serenity to expressive action.
Informed by a formal art education and life experience, I find mysterious beauty in the relationship between interdependent but competing forces and I create blended abstractions to express ideas and concerns about the balance between structure and nature, the dehumanization in our culture and the struggle for self-definition in a society that is becoming increasingly mechanized. The paintings prints and drawings seem to end up in two basic sub-series , one being more expressive and bright and the other being simplified, contemplative and minimalistic.
Most of my past work is in painting and print mediums for which I earned A B.F.A. Degree at MSCD in Denver. More recently the images are being created in fused glass, stained glass and mixed media glass and wood sculpture. The work has exhibited both Regionally and Nationally in juried and invitational exhibitions.
